TALENTS AND HOBBIES: do they really differ?

TALENTS AND HOBBIES: do they really differ?

Hello, successful individual, i hope you had a great weekend. YnM is here again to give her lovers a great week with daily inspirational posts.
THE GOLDEN LIST OF PEOPLE WHO CAN NEVER SUCCEED series will now feature every Saturday until the book is published. Anticipate!

Today, i want to clear the rough path on "Talents and Hobbies". This is one aspect of life that teenagers and youths alike are most confused.

What is your talent?
What is your hobby?
Any difference between both?

As children, our parents and even outsiders were always the ones pointing us towards our "supposed talent". It is correct that as a little child, nobody knows you better than your parents; but it is also correct that, as a youth, nobody knows you better than your very own self. So the youthful age is the age for checks and balances. Check to verify those areas your parents told you that you are good at (your supposed talent).

Is that really your talent or are they just false reflections of who you are?
Is that really your talent or was it just a childhood hobby?

Do not confuse your talent with your hobby.
You may not be so good at something, but you love to do it anyway. Likewise, you may be very good at something and still not love to do it. The first describes "Hobby", while the latter describes "Talent".
So many people have confused themselves and others by saying "Your talent is what you love doing". Well, In my opinion , that's wrong. Your hobby is what you love doing, but your talent is what you do freely. Some people who list "singing" as a hobby, are bad singers. The moment they mention "Singing" as a hobby, the common perception nowadays is " oh! she must be a great singer", but no! That's not always the case.
As a little girl, my Aunt once told me "Your talent is that thing you find yourself doing most of the time" but no, that's the definition of your hobby. You just love doing it, even though you might not be good at it. To butress this point, take a good look at Choir members in Churches or any band. You have some who are very good. You have some who are manageable. You have some who are bad singers. The truth is, no choir or band instructor wants a bad singer as part of the team, but because some of them "Love to sing", they join. Some who are great singers are sometimes reluctant or show one negative attitude or the other towards singing, maybe beause they joined simply because they have a great voice, not really because they love to sing. You see the difference? Some love it, but can't do it, while some can do it, but don't love it. That's the difference between talent and hobbies.
Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not saying "Everybody does not love their talent. I'm simply saying that it's a wrong perception to think that your talent is what you love doing the most.
Some people have talents(what they do freely) and they love doing it. So it's a great combination to have your hobby as a talent. Although, not all talents come as a hobby. For the fact that it is your talent does not mean that you will love or embrace it instantly.
Personally, I have a talent in singing. I love to sing and by God's Grace, i sing pretty well. That's my talent and it's also my hobby. I realised this talent since age Six, and I happily embraced it since then, but between age twelve and thirteen, i realised my teachers commeded my writing skills in school and I realised I have a talent in that too. So, on about four occasions, I wrote poems and posted them on a social media platform, which so many people applauded. I then decided to try writing poems everyday. I kept struggling with this daily-poem-writing decision; sometimes it flows freely, sometimes it's a struggle. But, prior to opening this blog, I realised that there is something i freely write- Motivational/Inspirational writings. I looked down on it because it is not common, especially among youths; but the day I decided to embrace it was the first day I ever felt extreme joy in doing something i consider "Worthwile". I have grown to love it and I keep loving it. Now i am building it into a hobby.
Do you now understand the difference between a hobby and a talent?
I have heard some people say "I used to have a talent in doing this or that". The truth is "TALENTS CAN SLEEP" and they can be "REAWAKENED". If you fail to realise/build your talent, you might lose it for a while, until you stir it up again; and the truth remains that you cannot talk about a book without referring to the author. GOD IS THE GIVER OF TALENTS. So, acknowledge him while building yourself. WORK ON YOUR TALENT. BUILD IT BY PRACTICING IT.

YOUR HOBBY GIVES YOU PERSONAL SATISFACTION, BUT YOUR TALENT STANDS YOU OUT, WHETHER YOU'RE SATISFIED OR NOT.
Despite the difference between a hobby and a talent, you can enjoy both benefits if you build your talent as a hobby. There's a sense of fulfilment in that.
Keep doing what you love doing. Build what you do freely. Work on your love for your talent. Don't let your hobbies overshadow your talent, else it sleeps. Your Talent is a jealous lover. She wants you all to herself. Build her FIRST! TURN HER INTO A HOBBY!.
Have a fulfilling time discovering the real you!

I hope this post motivated you! Share with friends too. Never forget also, you are the reason i keep doing what i do.  You readers are my reason for this blog.

THE GOLDEN LIST OF PEOPLE WHO CAN NEVER SUCCEED.
Hello Successful individual!
I know you're not tired of getting motivated, because as it is, you can only get tired of being motivated if you can get tired of succeeding. Every successful achievement has a push behind it- motivation. Success doesn't just happen overnight and even if it does, something has to be behind it, and that's motivation. What motivates you matters less, as long as it is positive. To succeed, we need motivation. We're not robots that just get to work without a push. Oh no! robots have a button/control to motivate (push) them too right?
So, nobody can survive without a motivation and YnM is here to do that for you again. WE MOTIVATE!
So, our series continues today. Yesterday, we released the names of three people who will never succeed. And as said yesterday, this list will be gradually released until the end of this week.  Today, we'll look at
just one hindrance to our lifetime success, please read through to help you determine where you fall and obligate yourself to rising from them.

THE GOLDEN LIST OF PEOPLE WHO CAN NEVER SUCCEED

THE COMPLACENT- Complacency kills faster than any deadly disease you know. That's not an overstatement. It's reality. Complacency kills your success. What does complacency even mean? It means, being satisfied with your present achievement and not willing to push further. Complacency breeds stagnation.
If you refuse to upgrade/advance yourself, you will be outdated and if you are outdated, you are forgotten and if you are forgotten, you're as good as dead. Don't wait for people to push you. You are the motivation you seek. You have to see the need for an upgrade. Don't depend on an external push. Stimulate yourself for success. When someone pushes you to do something, you won't do it as good as when you see the need for it to be done, and then do it. See the need for an upgrade, because whether you like it or not, the world is advancing and you need to advance with it too.
Take this scenario for an example:
If you find a comfortable chair to sit on, and then refuse to leave that chair because it's comfortable, you stay there for about three days, people will get used to you on that chair. It's no longer new to them. You no longer fascinate them, and that's not all; staying there for long will make you stink there and contaminate the environment around you.
Do you get it now?
That's complacency for you.
Complacency thrives in so many businesses today. After learning once and starting up a business, so many entrepreneurs relax with the mentality that they have "succeeded", while upgrades are being introduced into the business. A wise entrepreneur will advance with the latest "market-moving" strategy, while a complacent one will remain where she is, with the mentality of "i'm still making my money".
Don't be satisfied with just "making money". Strive to make "more money". It's not greed. It's not selfishness, neither is it coveteousness; as far as it is a result of your hardwork, you deserve it.

Let me tell you the secret behind the rich getting richer and the poor getting poorer.

The rich understands the principle of complacency.
Give a poor man with a poor mentality a huge amount of money to start up a business; he'll start it up, fine. But he'll do so with the mentality of "i've started it, it can't go down, let me enjoy my profits".  But do the same to a person with a rich mentality, he'll start up the business too, but he'll save up for upgrade and advancement.
Instead of saying "the rich get richer and the poor get poorer", find out what the rich do, that the poor don't.
The rich don't get richer by doing nothing. The rich don't get richer by being complacent. They get richer by thinking of means to upgrade themselves, and they don't stop at thinking. They work towards it, bearing the risks.
Complacency is the reason the poor get poorer.
don't be among those who despise the rich for getting richer. Instead, strive to be among those who will be despised for getting richer.
Success has no definite bus stop; nobody has seen the end of it yet. People keep succeeding. So, keep moving. Make a move. Move from where you are, to where you want to be. And when you eventually get to where you want to be, it's only human for you to have somewhere better you want to be. So, keep moving. Say goodbye to complacency if you really want to succeed.
KILL COMPLACENCY BEFORE IT KILLS YOU!

I hope this post motivated you! Share with friends too. Never forget also, you are the reason i keep doing what i do. You, yes you reading this right now. You are my reason for this blog.

THE GOLDEN LIST OF PEOPLE WHO CAN NEVER SUCCEED.

THE GOLDEN LIST OF PEOPLE WHO CAN NEVER SUCCEED.

HELLO SUCCESSFUL INDIVIDUAL! Welcome to today's edition of our series. As introduced yesterday, this series will run through for one week. Let the countdown begin! It's Five days to go. I hope this post motivates you to bring about a change in your life.

THE GOLDEN LIST OF PEOPLE WHO WILL NEVER SUCCEED.

There  are hundreds, even thousands of old people today who are regretful about the kind of life they lived while they were youths; this explains their strictness towards young people.
Youthful age is a very delicate age. It is the age that determines whether or not you will become regretful in the future, depending on how "properly aligned" you are.
Every decision youths take in life is geared towards lifetime Success and there are sets of attributes that are common among youths that hinder us from being successful in life.
I have highlighted these attributes as persons, so that we can check ourselves to see if we fall under any if these categories. Sit tight!

(1) THE COMPLAINER- This young man chooses to dwell on the bad side of situations. Even when something good happens, he blinds himself to it and picks out something to complain about instead. If you ask him if he has had something to eat today, his reply will be: "Yes, i have eaten rice, but it was very little, it even had a bitter taste". Note that complainers aren't people who are unlucky or bad things always happen to them; they are just people who are ungrateful for the good things and accusers of the bad things.
Complaints repel success. Complainers never succeed unless they change, so choose to dwell on the positive side. QUIT COMPLAINING.

(2) THE BLAMER- This young lady likes to play the "Blame game" like her mother, Eve.
Take responsibility for an action even when you're not expected to. It will build you up for success. Taking responsibility also saves the day. Adetola was supposed to prepare dinner for her family before 7pm but she fails to do so, and her mum asks her why she didn't do as expected, Adetola as a blamer says "Mummy, Bola didn't buy the kerosene in time". Adetola can only give that excuse as a blamer, otherwise, she would have gotten the Kerosene herself or made sure it arrived in time. The instruction was to get the rice cooked, nobody cares how she gets the kerosene. Blamers are excuse givers. The fact that your excuse is valid doesn't make you any less a Blamer.
So, to succeed in life, quit playing the "blame game". Take responsibility for your actions or inactions. Don't point fingers. Even when people refuse to take responsibility for their actions/inactions, right the wrongs. You're simply training yourself for success. So sweetheart, QUIT PLAYING THE BLAME GAME.

(3) THE CRITIC- This young man always criticize people's actions with the the mentality that he can do better than them, which is mostly false. He is blinded to the fact that "you cannot rise above the people you continually criticize". That's a principle in criticism. Note that i'm not talking about people who are critics by profession, i.e, those who judge people's work to help them improve.
When you always see only the negatives in people, it will deter your own success.

Learn to look for the positives in people. Naturally, our minds want to focus on the negative side, but we must be disciplined enough to consciously look away.
As bad as people may be, there is an iota of good in them. QUIT CRITICIZING.

Ermmmm, should i go on?. or should i leave you to digest this first? i guess that depends on your response in the comment box below. Please feel free to express your views.

I hope this post motivated you! Share with friends too. Never forget also, you are the reason i keep doing what i do. You, yes you reading this right now. You are my reason for this blog.

The One-Way Journey To Being You

HELLO! Welcome again to YnM (Youths n' Music). I hope you find this Motivating and Appliable.

The ONE-WAY journey to "BEING YOU"

Being you is not a question of actions you take. It's a MINDSET. Being you is not something you have to travel very far to achieve. The whole action takes place in YOUR HEAD. Being you is a DECISION.
As complicated as this sounds, there's just one way to be you; If we break down so many ways, it will be obvious that they all emanate from this one way.

The only way to be you is to BE YOU.

Yes. BE YOU. That's the only way to be you. People always say it's not as easy as it sounds, but trust me, it is.
There's a principle to follow. I call it the FBR principle. FBR stands for: Find, Be, and Remain. In other words, you have to Find You, Be You, and Remain You. Let's discuss this.
Finding the real "You" has to do with getting to know that aspect of your life that flows without struggle. In essence, your TALENT is the real You.
Being You means working on what you get to know about yourself and your abilities.
To remain you, is to consistently work on your talent, upgrade it, find out if there's more and never give up on you. To remain you, is to focus on being You, without feeling inferior because of what others are. Inferiority is a mindset and so is success. To succeed as a person, choose to feel good about yourself and not measure your success by other people's achievement.
Now, there is great danger in trying to be someone else. The danger is that you chase people away from finding out the real YOU.

If you're trying to copy a celebrity for example, you dress exactly like him, imbibe his style of language, and copy all sorts of things, when people look at you, they will admire you but not for long. You know why? - because they will get to see the real person you're trying to copy and then admire them instead. Nobody likes "photocopy", everybody likes the original better. Photocopy stands as a cheap article and alternative option. With this attitude of trying to be what we are not, some of us have contributed greatly to giving others more fans, to the detriment of promoting ourselves. Notice the way people refer to the original when comparing it with the copycat version:
Let's take Adele's popular song for an example- HELLO. So many people sang a cover of that song. Let's assume an artiste named Janie, sings a cover too. People won't refer to it as "Janie's Hello", instead they would say " Janie's COVER of Adele's Hello". And people will want to find out what the Original version sounds like.
Take cognizance of the fact that even if you copy someone and do it better than the real owner, you still won't be celebrated like the owner, because as corrupt as the world is, it doesn't celebrate copycats, it celebrates authors. So strive to be an author today, by BEING YOU.
Discouragements may set in when you strive to be you, but never forget "Being you, always works out".
Celebrities today, never gave up on their real selves and that's why they became what they are today. Don't give up on YOU. You wield so much power to make or mar your destiny. Don't misuse it. Don't live people's lives for them. live yours.
Finally, to know who you really are, Get to know God. Get to know who he is; because all that you are, you are in him. You're nothing without him. You cannot find the real YOU without him. So pray to God today and ask him to help you find the real you. He gladly will. Youths, BE YOU.

YOUTHS n' MUSIC: what is it about?

Youths n' music is all about motivating youths, giving them the right mindset about youth lifestyle; music especially. If there is one aspect of life that about sixty to eighty percent of youths are crazy about, it's Music- whether the songs or dance. And generally, there's hardly a person who isn't a 'die-hard' fan of one genre of music or the other. I don't think i've come across anybody who says "I Hate Music". That's to tell you that music is LIFE.
If you ask me what the world would be without music, i'll tell you-  "A GRAVEYARD".

You can as well ask me why i chose music and youth lifestyle as a specialty for blogging. Well, here goes:
Music is supposed to serve as a motivation to people. I'm not disputing the fact that today's music is actually a motivation. It all depends on the kind of motivation we're talking about here. Music, as a lifestyle, shouldn't be abused.
Now, since about ninety percent of youths love music... the artistes, the videos, the lyrics, the music in total, music has now become a way through which you can reach youths.
There's this universal principle that works- using people's weaknesses to attack them. or better put this way- using people's area of interest to approach them, so as to get their full attention and be able to influence them.
If you must use music to reach the youths, it is only right that you have something great to offer them through it. Some of our artistes are doing that and I respect them so much.

Now, about youths, they're easily influenced. Especially by people they look up to, in the music industry. For example, if a particular artiste tints his hair to a certain colour, give his followers or fans some days or weeks, they'll tint theirs too. That's to show that music is IMPACTFUL.

Now, IMPACT in the life of everyone, youths especially, is either positive or negative. You would agree with me that music is not only fun. It also influences our lifestyle ( language, dressing).

From this write-up, it can be deduced that music is IMPACTFUL and music is LIFE. So, to discuss about LIFE and make an IMPACT in the life of youths, this blog serves as a medium.
Youths, this is OUR blog. Rub minds, share experiences, talk about what makes you happy. And remember, we're not limited to music alone. This is our life.
Let's get started.

SNITCHED: Episode Two (Double Wahala)

Who breaks up with their partner over an issue so minute?, a male voice called from the white-tiled balcony. At least let me explain now...
